Mission Statement

The goals of BCG (Biodiversity Computing Group) are to strengthen computational Biodiversity research in Greece and Crete by actively developing algorithms, models, and open-source software tools for Biodiversity computing; to foster brain gain, prevent brain drain, and intensify brain circulation; to stimulate institutional reforms.

Closely Collaborating Institutions

BCG has a sister lab, the Computational Molecular Evolution Group at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies that is lead by the ERA chair, Alexandros Stamatakis.


The ERA chair is also a full professor on leave (for the duration of the ERA chair project) at the Department of Informatics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
